Miley Cyrus: Something Beautiful
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
MILEY CYRUS: SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL is a video album that accompanies the release of the artist's new music. The film shows Cyrus singing and dancing, sometimes accompanied by others, including back-up musicians, model Naomi Campbell, and boyfriend Maxx Morando. Songs include "Something Beautiful," "More to Lose," "Easy Lover," Golden Burning Sun," and more.
Is It Any Good?
Miley Cyrus and supermodel Naomi Campbell mouth "pose" repeatedly during one song in this hour-long music video, and the chant pretty much summarizes the film as a whole. Cyrus's performance in Miley Cyrus: Something Beautiful is professional and accomplished, but it's everything except naturalistic. She's posing throughout, with studied looks, perfected makeup for extended close-ups, and a gauzy, golden '70s aesthetic. Her costume designer deserves double billing here. This "pop opera" positions Miley as a diva, but it all stays entirely surface level.
