What's the Story?

MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM GQUUUUUUX: BEGINNING is an animated movie set in the Gundam franchise. It begins in an alternate timeline, where Zeon takes victory in the One Year War after many years of stalemate. The story first focuses on the "Red Comet" captain Char Aznable (voiced by Shin Yuki), then shifts to Amate Yuzuriha (voiced by Tomoyo Kurosawa), a high school student who delivers food after school. By happenstance, she gets involved in illegal activity to help a new friend. She then discovers the underground world of mobile suit duels and realizes she's becoming a part of something much bigger.

This movie has some uncomfortable brief scenes of teen nudity, but overall is an entertaining watch. Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX: Beginning serves as a solid continuation of a vast universe with many storylines, so new viewers may need a bit of a primer. Fans of the series will appreciate the old-school animation style and introduction of a new timeline. Even though there are lots of action scenes, they're pretty cartoonish and mild with no blood or gore, so teens and tweens who follow the franchise can continue to enjoy.
