What's the Story?

In the murder-comedy MONICA, O MY DARLING, Jay (Rajkummar Rao) is a promising engineer at a tech company, engaged to the boss' daughter, Nikki (Akansha Ranjan Kapoor). When Jay's industrial robot grabs a man by his neck and twists it, Jay becomes a murder suspect. Life becomes even more complicated when Monica (Huma Qureshi), the woman he and several other execs are having affairs with, announces she's having Jay's baby. She threatens to tell his fiancee and soon a plot to murder Monica is hatched and goes wrong, resulting in other murders. The police are breathing down Jay's neck as he tries to keep all his secrets straight while looking for the actual killer and a document that could send him to prison.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:
Parents say : Not yet rated
Kids say ( 1 ):

Monica, O My Darling has a lot going for it, but over-complexity and unnecessary length keep it from being as enjoyable as it might otherwise be. The mandatory big musical production number feels out of place and adds to the running time without doing much to move the murder mystery plot forward. For those familiar with Indian cinema, there are reportedly references to other well-known Indian films.
