Parents' Guide to PK

Parents need to know that PK is a 2014 Bollywood sci-fi comedy drama about an alien (Aamir Khan), whose spaceship remote control is stolen when he arrives on Earth leaving him stranded. Despite its lightheartedness, the film has some violence and serious themes around religion and prejudice. A character slaps another and someone is hit on the head with a shoe. There is a small accident where a person collides with a vehicle but there is no injury. Angry mobs chase an individual on multiple occasions, and in one scene, self-flagellation (with some blood) is depicted during a religious ceremony. A train blast takes place following which bloodied bodies are seen. Someone is attacked with a sword. Characters talk about suicide and self-harm. Sex is discussed, and there are lots of sexual jokes and innuendoes, and characters visit a brothel. In numerous scenes, it is implied characters are having sex in cars -- the vehicles are seen moving from side to side. PK, the alien, walks around naked, although any sensitive parts are covered. There is some drinking and language includes "s--t," "bloody," "shut up," "scumbag," and "idiot." The film is in Hindi with English subtitles.
