Parents' Guide to Stowaway

Parents need to know that Stowaway is an action-thriller set on a luxury yacht with some violence and strong language. Bella (Ruby Rose) is a young woman who inherits a yacht from her estranged father, which is then commandeered by a group of dangerous criminals with her onboard. The violence is not graphic or gory. But there are some bloody, non-fatal injuries, with one character shot to death by a sniper rifle. There are several uses of "f--k" and "s--t." Bella is brave and determined, but also flawed -- she's prone to stealing, for example. This is suggested as being a result of childhood trauma. With the exception of Bella, the cast is male-dominated, with some ethnic diversity across the supporting cast. At the start of the movie, Bella meets a stranger called Michael (Patrick Schwarzenegger) and the two spend the night together. There is kissing and Michael is shown shirtless, but sex is not shown. There is some drinking, but not to excess. Characters drink shots at a bar, which causes them to cough at the strength of the alcohol. One character smokes a large cigar in an attempt to de-stress.
