What's the Story?
In STREE, the small town of Chanderi is under threat from a ghost of a woman (Flora Saini) who abducts men during the night. With help from his father and a mysterious woman who arrives in town, the town's tailor, Vicky (Rajkummar Rao), and his friends investigate the tragic history behind the vengeful spirit and attempt to save the men of Chanderi before it's too late.
Is It Any Good?
This refreshing horror comedy directed by Amar Kaushik keeps viewers hooked with its fun and thrilling approach. Stree cleverly subverts traditional tropes by having men, rather than women, vulnerable to abduction in the dark by a vengeful female spirit. The movie challenges misogynistic mentalities responsible for gendered crimes, offering social commentary alongside its scares. Featuring layered characters, memorable friendships, and a cute romantic subplot, the film tells its story with craft and purpose. Rao's performance as Vicky wins hearts while Shraddha Kapoor's unnamed character adds mystery and suspense. With catchy music and witty humor balancing the horror elements, Stree stands as one of Bollywood's finest recent entries in the genre, successfully blending entertainment with thoughtful themes.
