Superboys of Malegaon
What's the Story?
In SUPERBOYS OF MALEGAON, Nasir (Adarsh Gourav) and his friends from a small Indian town share a passionate love for cinema. Despite limited resources, these ambitious young men set out to create their own local film industry, making low-budget versions of popular films.
Is It Any Good?
This comedy-drama, directed by Reema Kagti, is a gentle, inspiring, and witty tale that winds through the streets of Malegaon, India. Inspired by real-life events, Superboys of Malegaon celebrates cinema, friendship, and, most importantly, life itself. The well-crafted screenplay balances humor with emotional depth, while the cast members deliver heartwarming performances that add authenticity to their characters. Though there are tearjerking moments, the film maintains a crisp pace, never lingering too long on sentimentality. Kagti skillfully captures the collaborative spirit of filmmaking and its emotional impact on both creators and audiences. At its core, Nasir's journey, from a self-focused artist to someone who values community, gives the story a satisfying emotional arc beyond just the mechanics of making movies.
