Parents need to know that The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is based on Suzanne Collins' same-named prequel to the epic Hunger Games franchise. Taking place 24 years before the original trilogy, Sunrise on the Reaping stars Joseph Zada as a young Haymitch Abernathy, tribute from District 12 and the future mentor of the main series' protagonist, Katniss Everdeen. Like all of the other movies in the franchise, Sunrise on the Reaping will almost certainly feature intense violence, death, and graphic cruelty. But you can also expect many of the same complicated questions about humanity, totalitarian power, violence, and spectacle to recur as well.
