What's the Story?

THE LOST PATIENT follows Thomas (Txomin Vergez), who wakes up from a coma three years after a traumatic event. His assigned psychiatrist (Clotilde Hesme) tries to help him get to the bottom of what happened by asking him to traverse his memories. As he pieces the past back together, he learns the awful truth of what happened to his family.

The Lost Patient is a slow-burn psychological thriller, and while it does have enough intrigue to grab you, it isn't a film that keeps you hooked until the very end. And, if you've watched or read enough classic psychological thrillers, you might see the twist coming and be able to figure out what the mystery actually is.

With that said, the film is still an enjoyable ride. If you're looking for a well acted but standard thriller, The Lost Patient will check all the boxes.

  • Families can talk about mental illness. How is mental illness portrayed here? Does it feel authentic? Why, or why not?

  • How does Thomas feel about his family? Why is Thomas' sister important in his life?

  • How does this compare to other thrillers you've seen?

  • Did you see the big twist coming? If so, how did you know?
