Thought-provoking for things for yourself.
This movie is all about existentialism portrayed through a walk of the main character's lucid dreams..Ages 14-16 might just get bored of it because they wouldn't understand anything while 17 and up will just think of it as a thought provoking movie. Many people have trouble with such issues and this movie might even help them, of course always depending on what type of person you are. It mostly triggers things about yourself, it really isn't about what it shows or says anyway.

An existentialist's dream.
Not speaking for myself, I suggest it for adolescents aged 16 and over. It's a complex existentialist film about the supposed difference between dreaming and reality. As an aspiring neuroscientist, I found this to be factual as well.
However, there are some scenes which I found to be disturbing for the sake of presentation, though that may be subjective and not worthy of mentioning.

Wih the possible exception of Fantasia, this may be the greatest animated film ever made.
