What's the Story?
WITHOUT SAYING GOODBYE opens on slick and successful young Spanish architect Salvador (Maxi Igelsias) just as he travels to rural Peru waving wads of cash to buy up pristine land for a luxury hotel his father's corporation is going to build. But Salva falls in love with the land and gains an appreciation for a more eco-friendly way of life, sustainability, the local culture, and Ariana (Stephanie Cayo), the free-spirited niece of the land's owner, Lichi (Wendy Ramos). She works at her aunt's little hotel, taking tourists on treks through the spectacularly beautiful region. He falls in love and she, who has no interest in romantic love, happy endings, or marriage, resists mightily. Their values are at odds but he begins to consider the benefits of a less hyper-scheduled life and she opens up to the idea of sharing her life with someone who's so willing to change his way of thinking. Ultimately, as he persists, she comes to value what they have together.
Is It Any Good?
While there's nothing new or groundbreaking about Without Saying Goodbye, it tells the conventional story of a romance between opposites engagingly. The star of the show is the magnificent Peruvian scenery, but the easy chemistry between the two beautiful leads, Cayo and Iglesias, also helps make a familiar concoction go down a whole lot easier.
