What's It About?

Each 10-15 minute episode of BEDTIME STORIES WITH NETFLIX JR. is a story about sleep featuring characters from a Netflix Jr. show. Content with the same characters is available through the paid Netflix streaming service, the free Netflix Jr. YouTube channel, and a free digital and print magazine for preschoolers. Actors' voices, sound effects, and music make these episodes exciting and entertaining, and most have humorous and adventurous plots. The final 2-3 minutes of each episode help kids wind down with calming music, slowing action, and guidance to wind down before sleep. Psychotherapist and author of The Whole-Brain Child, Dr.Tina Bryson, helped create the podcast to help children with sleep transitions.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:

If listeners already love Netflix Jr. characters, they might delight in hearing these entertaining and positive stories, and pick up a few sleep strategies along the way. If listeners don't know the characters yet, they might be a bit lost on the plots of Bedtime Stories with Netflix Jr., but likely entertained enough to ask you to watch some Netflix Jr. shows. The podcast itself is not particularly strong on educational content, important life lessons, or realistic social scenarios, but it's screen free and age appropriate. Likable characters always model positivity and kindness. Episodes may be a starting point for explaining to kids that sleep is important, and we all, even our favorite characters, need to rest.

For being called bedtime stories, these episodes are pretty entertaining and energetic for the first 10 minutes. Listening feels like watching an episode of a show. You'll have to wait until the final few minutes to get to the calming parts.
