What's It About?
CUENTOS DE BUENAS NOCHES PARA NIÑAS REBELDES is a Spanish-language podcast with different kid-hosts in each episode. It is based on the English book and podcast, Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls. In each episode of the podcast one remarkable woman narrates the story of another who is noteworthy for her integrity and her significant accomplishments. Episodes also include a shorter companion episode that introduces the narrator. All of the women highlighted have demonstrated courage and perseverance to get through hardship or adversity and reach their goals. Every episode ends with a thoughtful question from a kid to the narrator about what it means to be a rebel girl. Episodes and bonus content are also available on the Rebel Girls app.
Is It Any Good?
Each of the biographies presented in this podcast offers an insider's perspective into the lives of inspirational and impactful women. In Cuentos de Buenas Noches para Niñas Rebeldes, the stories of these trailblazing women are both informative and empowering. Parents may appreciate the many references to the importance of family support. Kamala Harris explains, for example, that her mother would tell her not to complain when something unfair was happening, but to do something about it.
Though not all of the women being presented are Latina, the hosts and kid guests are, creating a connection to Spanish-speaking children and their families. This podcast introduces talented and historically significant women from various and diverse backgrounds and origins, bringing them together in a way that bridges gaps and invites discussions.
