A Lot or a Little?
What you will—and won't—find in this podcast.
Letters and sounds are taught through music and silly dialogue. At times, the central topic of phonics is lost in the details. Educational value is surface level.
Friendship and open-mindedness are encouraged. The letters O and S become good friends after sharing their experiences with one another. Learning new things is portrayed as exciting and necessary.
Positive Role Models
The host DJ Al B is open minded and friendly. The DJ is excited to meet new letters and thinks aloud about how they can welcome each letter. When greeting new letters each episode, they share what they think is the best and friendliest way to do so. Each of the letters teaches about their sounds and environment with enthusiasm.
Bilingualism is portrayed as exciting and cool. The letter S teaches the host a bit about speaking in Spanish. The letters are given a variety of accents and voices.

Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Meet the Alpha Beats is a fun, silly, and musical way to familiarize younger kids with the letters of the alphabet and their sounds. While it may not be the most thoroughly educational podcast, it teaches the alphabet with a lot of joy and humor that will make little ones giggle and ask for more. The short, lighthearted storylines are great for quick drives or snack breaks, and the cast of characters add an entertaining twist.
Is It Any Good?
Fun and quick, lighthearted adventures are at the center of this podcast. What Meet the Alpha Beats lacks in depth it makes up for in colorful characters and silly storylines. Letter sounds are reinforced through an assortment of words that pop up throughout the stories, and the hosts and characters sprinkle in other important kinds of information throughout each episode. The music is the star here and will likely have family members of all ages singing along.
