What's It About?
THE REALLY GOOD PODCAST takes interviewing to an awkward level. Host Bobbi Althoff uses sarcasm, long pauses, and dry humor to catch guests off guard, asking them "questions that no one wants to know the answer to," according to Althoff herself. Every episode features a different celebrity guest and whatever Althoff feels like talking about that day. Episodes are less structured interviews and more like casual conversations that sometimes get so awkward it's cringeworthy.
Is It Any Good?
For those who love dry humor, sarcasm, and awkward conversations with celebrities. The Really Good Podcast could be entertaining for teens and adults, but it misses the mark on some key aspects that would make it more interesting. Host Bobbi Althoff leans into the persona that made her popular on TikTok, focusing on awkward comedic timing to bring a unique style to comedy and podcasting. The concept is interesting, but as far as content goes, each episode discusses almost nothing of substance. You may learn fun tidbits about the guests throughout the course of the episode, but most of what you'll get it back and forth banter and long pauses meant to make you feel as uncomfortable as the guests seem to be with Bobbi.
Production quality is great and the celebrity guests are diverse and interesting, which make it a decent listen, but Althoff's humor is certainly not for everyone. With such a star-studded guest list, you'd expect more substance, but it falls just short of really good.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about how each guest on The Really Good Podcast is a major celebrity and most topics focus on their daily routines as celebrities. How relatable is this podcast? What could this tell us about how different people experience the world?
Host Bobbi Althoff uses awkward pauses, odd questions, dry humor and sarcasm to try to catch her guests off-guard and entertain her listeners. Do you find this style of interviewing interesting or funny? What makes this different from traditional interviews we see in the media?
Much of the show discusses mundane topics with guests, most feel more like a casual conversation than an interview. How can casual conversations help us get to know others, rather than formal interviews? Does this feel more personal?
