What's the Story?
In A-LIST TO PLAYLIST, actor Jo Jung-seok (Hospital Playlist) accepts a challenge to put his musical talents to the test. He's given 100 days to write and record a full-length album. Accepting the challenge, he invites his friend, actor Jung Sang-hoon (Korean Saturday Night Live) to help him. Over a glass of whiskey, his friend decides to organize the effort, bringing in another actor, Moon Sang-hoon (Extraordinary Attorney Woo), to provide structure and big-picture ideas. Will they help Jo Jung-seok face his fears and finish his album?
Is It Any Good?
Striking a balance between comic spoof and earnest artistry, this reality show's got a stacked deck. Sure Jo Jung-suk is a "rookie" musician, but he's a very well-connected amateur who's got friends in the K-pop stratosphere who lend him a hand as he attempts to make a full-length album in 100 days in A-List to Playlist.
The creative process can be a thrilling ride, especially when spiced with attractive cameos from talented musicians and actors. Families of young teens who are fans of K-pop will especially enjoy watching the creative process unfold in this show: it's an inspirational ride.
