A Nonsense Christmas With Sabrina Carpenter
What's the Story?
A NONSENSE CHRISTMAS WITH SABRINA CARPENTER is a Netflix holiday-themed special featuring pop star Sabrina Carpenter. The actor and singer belts out 10 seasonal songs, often with the help of folks like Tyla, Shania Twain, Kali Uchis, and Chappell Roan in front of a studio audience. Adding to the fray are sketches that also feature guests like Cara Delevingne, SNL comedian Kyle Mooney, Abbott Elementary's Quinta Brunson, and Hacks actors Megan Stalter and Owen Thiele. Even Santa Claus (played by Sean Astin) makes an appearance. From music and dance numbers to adapting the ghosts of holidays past to the contemporary world, the Christmas special offers some silly and festive cheer.
Is It Any Good?
The roughly 50-minute festive variety show offers viewers a chance to watch pop star Sabrina Carpenter sing and act with the help of cameos from a range of musical guests, actors, and comedians. Shiny costumes and dance numbers also add to the fray. Carpenter touts it as family friendly during the show, but A Nonsense Christmas contains a lot of strong innuendo, only some of which will go over young teens' heads (and which grows tiresome pretty quickly). Meanwhile, the singer makes most of the fact that she's able to say "f--k" three during the special, too. Nonetheless, it's all in good fun, and no doubt it will give fans old enough to handle it lots of holiday cheer.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about the different holidays celebrated in the U.S. between December and January. Why is Christmas Day a major federal holiday, but Hanukkah and Kwanzaa are not?
Could A Nonsense Christmas With Sabrina Carpenter be entertaining without so much innuendo? Or is this what makes the show humorous?
