Acoustic Rooster: Jazzy Jams
What's the Story?
ACOUSTIC ROOSTER: JAZZY JAMS is a collection of animated shorts that celebrate jazz music. Each short follows Acoustic Rooster (Dominic Bell), a guitar-playing kid rooster who loves jazz, and his Barnyard Band. Band members Mules Davis (Doron Bell), Ella Finchgerald (Dee Daniels), Duck Ellington (Viv Leacock), and Lil Herdin (Elena Bañares) "jazz it up" with a song that matches the challenge of the day. Songs include a blues tune when Rooster is worrying about his plants dying and a mellow Ella Fitzgerald-esque lullaby to help sing the little chickadees to sleep. Each song shows how jazz music can help the barnyard animals express emotions while having fun at the same time.
Is It Any Good?
Acoustic Rooster: Jazzy Jams is a swinging good time—the songs in each short are super fun and make jazz accessible to young kids. The colorful and graphic animation has a ton of kid appeal, and the characters' problems are relatable to preschoolers. The only downside to Jazzy Jams is that each episode is only three minutes long, but kids who want more Acoustic Rooster can check out the 45-minute special Acoustic Rooster and His Barnyard Band.
