Aeon Flux
What's the Story?
Aeon Flux is about a skilled assassin working against a self-appointed dictator named Trevor Goodchild. The only things standing in her way are her constantly shifting allegiances and on-again off-again romance with... Trevor Goodchild himself.
Is It Any Good?
MTV's 1995 series was distinctive even for its time in how much it rewards close attention. Most contemporary television is built for casual viewing, binge watching, or even multi-tasking, but Aeon Flux is different. Most notably, its constantly shifting game of cat-and-mouse between Flux and Goodchild, the allies and enemies frequently switch places, and the action that happens in the margins of the screen when other events are taking place. The whole experience feels unique, especially when compared to the streaming era. It's easy to see how it became a cult classic.
