Parents' Guide to Akuma Kun

Parents need to know that Akuma Kun is a supernatural detective drama about a young genius and his half-demon companion solving mysteries. They take on murder cases and the occasional odd fetch quest, but the cases often take a dark turn. There's gun violence, upsetting imagery of bloody corpses, and suicide. Other frightening images of summoning circles, shadowy monsters, and demons rack up the suspense. There is a brief scene of partial nudity; one character takes on a female human form that is highly sexualized. Language includes mild, infrequent curses (e.g. "dang it"). Akuma-kun (voiced by Michael Johnston in the English dub) and Mephisto III (voiced by Kyle McCarley) have a very Watson-and-Holmes style relationship. Akuma-kun, like Sherlock, can be coded as autistic, but the characterization lacks some nuance. Each episode tackles a different social-emotional lesson about interpersonal relationships and growing up.
