What's the Story?
ALASKA ANIMAL RESCUE is an unscripted docuseries that follows experts from three different animal rescues and education centers in Alaska helping and saving wild animals from the region. Teams from the Alaska Raptor Center in Sitka, the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward, and the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center inn Portage work hard to rescue and rehabilitate animals that have been abandoned or hurt in the wild. From helping different species of newborn orphans, to saving a bald eagle that skewered himself with a tree branch, viewers can see the efforts being made by different organizations to preserve and protect the state's most precious wild animals. Throughout the process, they also offer some information about the animals they are working with, and the reasons for the rescue and rehabilitation procedures they follow.
Is It Any Good?
This engaging series shows the efforts being made across Alaska to help protect and preserve the wild animals that make the state great. It introduces viewers to species of animals that are specific to the area, as well as the unique challenges that come with their rescue, including having to navigate thousands of miles of coast line, and trying to reach animals in remote areas that aren't on the Alaskan road system.
There are some difficult moments, especially when beloved animals die or have to be put down. The cast Alaskan Animal Rescue acknowledges how hard this is. But the passion they have for animals, and the excitement they feel when they successfully return them back into the wild, is also very evident. This, along with the cinematic views of the spectacular Alaskan frontier as the show's backdrop, makes it worth the watch.
