Anne Shirley
What's the Story?
ANNE SHIRLEY is mistakenly sent to live with the Cuthbert siblings, who had planned to adopt a young boy to help them on the farm of Green Gables. They intend to send Anne (voiced by Monica Flatley) back to the orphanage, but her personality charms them and she starts a new life in Avonlea.
Is It Any Good?
This charming adaptation endears a beloved classic to a whole new generation. Anne Shirley does an excellent job of developing well-rounded characters with complex personalities. Anne is a role model for using curiosity, imagination, and optimism to overcome challenges and build relationships. There are plenty of good examples of healthy relationships between kids and adults—with both sides learning to understand each other.
The show is sincere in handling how even the smallest conflict can have big impact. It's overall a gentle show, but it's strong in conveying positive messages about growing up. Overall, both new and old fans can appreciate Anne Shirley.
