What's the Story?

ASSASSINATION CLASSROOM is a series that centers around a junior high class tasked with assassinating their alien-like teacher Korosensei (voiced by Sonny Strait). For some inexplicable reason Korosensei has decided to teach the downtrodden students in Class E. Korosensei holds amazing power and has claimed responsibility for the recent destruction of 70 percent of the moon. He also says he will destroy the earth in one year if his students can't kill him before then. As Korosensei teaches Class E they must sharpen their assassination skills -- and fast -- so that they can save the world and win 10 billion yen.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:
Parents say ( 3 ):
Kids say ( 8 ):

This bizarre comedy anime attempts to mix killing intent and wholesome messages, creating a strange clash of tones throughout the show. Assassination Classroom has a wacky and imaginative premise, but the show ultimately suffers from a lack of variety. The series is centered around the students of E Class needing to kill their teacher Korosensei before a year passes or the earth will be destroyed. One major problem is that there's never any tension in the more serious moments of the show; the show couldn't exist without Korosensei, so you know that the student's assassination attempts will fail. The comedy is centered around these failed assassination plots and how quirky Korosensei is, which feels repetitive. The show does have some wholesome moments where Korosensei helps the students improve their lives and gain self-esteem.
