What's the Story?

BABY ZOO episodes (which are on a same-named YouTube channel) consist of supercuts of music videos for young kids. The characters are all animals, and the songs focus on topics like going to the potty, airport safety rules, and sharing toys with siblings.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:
Parents say ( 1 ):
Kids say ( 4 ):

This channel/series seems to be trying to replicate the success of preschool music video juggernaut CoCoMelon, but it makes their content look Oscar-worthy in comparison. Some of the Baby Zoo videos' content is borderline negative, and a lot of it is quirky at best (an unexpectedly large number of scenes focus on the inner workings of the digestive system). And by giving a lot of screen time to negative behavior, the videos are more likely to give preschoolers ideas about ways to cause trouble than to help them learn the right thing to do. The lyrics are hard to understand, and there's no dialogue to put things in context, which could also contribute to young kids getting the wrong takeaways. The videos' content is definitely aimed at the youngest viewers, but the substance isn't developmentally appropriate for them. In a world with so much excellent video content available for young kids, there are better choices available.
