Is It Any Good?

Our review:

Tom Segura makes sketch comedy for viewers who think pushing boundaries is funny in and of itself. Bad Thoughts features sketches about abuse, disability, racism, homophobia, trauma, sexual violence, and suicidal ideation. The subtext here is "all this stuff can still be funny," even though most contemporary creators have a deeper understanding of these complex subjects and how treating them with ignorance can be deeply harmful to people.

Moreover, many of the boundaries that Segura seems to take such joy in pushing have been in place for decades, and Segura is simply doing another version of material that has been used over and over. Everything circles back to murder and oral sex. The worst part of Bad Thoughts isn't that it's offensive; it's that it's tired.
