What's the Story?

BAKI HANMA continues the story of Baki's journey to best his father Yujiro (Kirk Thornton) in a martial arts duel. Baki (Troy Baker) seeks out combat with other powerful fighters to level up his own skills, learning not only from his own battles but from observing others duking it out in prison yards, city streets, and fight rings.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:
Parents say ( 2 ):
Kids say ( 1 ):

This aggressive, over-the-top drama prioritizes muscle and martial arts over plot and character development. Baki Hanma is best for viewers who enjoy combat action for its own sake. Though it can be entertaining to watch Baki's cool-headed analysis of opponents' fight styles, there's little else to watch for. Baki's strength is challenged, but at the end of the day he still shocks enemies with his skill -- which quickly becomes unshocking to viewers themselves. There are moments of almost depth when characters discuss global politics or nostalgia for the past; those are fleeting and overshadowed by the idolization of physical power and the casual cruelty of characters' actions.
