What's the Story?

BALI centers on the experiences of a young puppy named Bali, who lives with his parents and little sister, Lea, in a big city. Bali's a typical preschooler with big dreams and his own ideas about how things should work, but when he's in a jam, he usually finds inspiration in a daydream, where he meets someone who helps him see the light. When he gets back to real life, he applies what he's learned, fixes the problem, and emerges with a more positive attitude.

Bali's zest for life and willingness to learn new things from would-be mentors make him an excellent role model for preschoolers. Even when he's frustrated about his own situation, he never lets that interfere with an opportunity to learn. As a result, he learns valuable lessons, accumulates knowledge, and, more importantly, builds strong self-esteem.

Surrounding Bali is a vital support system that includes affectionate parents, an adoring sister, faithful friends, and a kindly grandmother, all of whom play a role in helping shape Bali's appealing personality. Life isn't perfect, even for this darling pup, but his experiences remind kids that even when the matter at hand seems bleak, there's always a way to set things right and keep moving forward.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

  • Families can talk about how Bali overcomes a struggle in each story. Can your kids relate to all of them? To whom would they turn for help in a similar situation?

  • Why is it important to have good role models? Does being a good role model mean you're always perfect? Kids: In what situations are you a role model? What responsibilities go along with that?

  • Kids: How receptive are you to other people's advice or expertise? Does learning something new ever frustrate you? What are the rewards of sticking with a goal through the tough times?

  • How do the characters in Bali demonstrate perseverance? Why is this an important character strength?
