What's the Story?

BASKETBALL WIVES ORLANDO, a spin-off of the Basketball Wives franchise, features former and current wives and girlfriends of NBA basketball players. Podcaster Meghan James, the ex-girlfriend of former NBA player Kedrick Brown, to Orlando, Florida to restart her life. There she connects with Shaquille O'Neal's ex-wife Shaunie Henderson, Mulan Hernandez, the ex-girlfriend of NBA center Bol Bol, Nique Brown, girlfriend of professional basketball player Dwayne Bacon, and Ashley Snell, entrepreneur and wife of Tony Snell. Rounding out the group is Mackenzie Hyatt, girlfriend of former NBA player Rashad Vaughn, and Morgan Bledsoe, an entrepreneur and ex-wife of point guard Eric Bledsoe, who usually spends summers in Orlando but is now thinking about moving there permanently. From raising their kids and building businesses to attending brunches and working out, the women live full and relatively affluent lives. They don't all get along, but they have a collective understanding of the challenges that come with being the partner of a professional basketball player, and the specific codes of behavior they are expected to live by.

This predictable unscripted series features a cast of sometimes interesting women. Some of them appeared in earlier renditions of Basketball Wives, and are now getting a reality spotlight thanks to the basketball players they are associated with. Granted, some of them have their own business ventures, and readily use the series to promote them. However, as is the case with the overall franchise, many of the women engage in a lot of gossipy conversation and immature behavior, much of which is related to tensions surrounding the men they are or were partnered with. As a result, despite their independent successes, it's often hard to take them seriously. Nonetheless, if you like the franchise, or enjoy voyeuristic guilty pleasures, Basketball Wives Orlando will probably score big points.
