Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Best Sports Ever! is an fun and educational animated series that introduces children to a variety of competitive sports and athletic activities. The show highlights the kind of energy, hard work, strategic thinking required of those who choose to participate in them, but does so in ways that are easy to understand. Young male and female athletes are featured equally, and gender stereotypes and other generalizations about what makes an athlete are rejected. There’s some occasional mild bathroom humor, but nothing to worry about here for sports-loving families.

What's the Story?
BEST SPORTS EVER! is an animated series featuring a young sports journalist named Theo (voiced by Garth Wynne-Jones) interviewing athletes who participate in a wide-variety of sports. Each episode of the show features a collection of short interviews conducted by the energetic sports enthusiast, during which time he introduces the audience to a new sport, and talks with the young athletes who participate. During each interview, the athletes explain some of the requirements of their sport, its rules, safety guidelines, and the things they must practice in order to remain at the top of the game. Some of the athletes even let Theo play for a bit. He also offers bits of advice about what can help viewers improve their athleticism, including eating fruits and vegetables, getting enough sleep, and cleaning their bedrooms to help strengthen their muscles.
Is It Any Good?
This fun, colorful, and educational series presents information about a wide array of sports and athletic activities in a fast-paced but still easy to understand way. Viewers are introduced to a variety of competitive individual, team, and freestyle sports, as well as non-competitive sporting activities, like rock wall climbing, trapeze, and even breakdancing and marbles. More regional or lesser-known sports like jorkeyball (an indoor version of soccer) and wheelchair basketball are also included in the mix. The athletes, who come from all walks of life, reject gender stereotypes and help clear up misunderstandings about who is able to participate in sports. Ultimately, Best Sports Ever! offers kids a chance to learn about sports, but in a way that underscores what it really means to be an athlete, and who athletes really are.
