What's the Story?

BEYOND THE EDGE is a reality competition featuring semi-famous people pushing themselves to the brink in a Central American jungle to raise money for their favorite charities. The show is hosted by MMA commentator Mauro Ranallo; contestants are country singers Lauren Alaina and Craig Morgan, Full House actor Jodie Sweetin, The Bachelor star Colton Underwood, supermodel Paulina Porizkova, and The Real Housewives of New York City alum Eboni K. Williams. They join athletes Metta World Peace, Ray Lewis, and Mike Singletary in braving deadly wildlife, heat, and the elements for two weeks in the Panamanian jungle. Organized into teams, they square off in competitive adventures to win cash, and some occasional bonus prizes. As each day passes, and the adventures get bigger, the amounts they can win increase. No one is eliminated from the competition, but those who reach their breaking points can ring a bell to leave the competition and go home. At the end, the two top earners remaining must go head to head to become the champion.

The series puts a positive spin on drama-infused challenges that reality competitions are known for. Featured celebrities, who range from current reality B-listers to individuals who enjoyed a fair amount of fame during the height of their careers, wade through mud, sleep in torrential downpours, and swim in dark waters to support charities. But as they attempt to push past their physical and emotional limits, they consistently highlight the value of working together to accomplish what feels impossible. It's not the most unpredictable of shows, but Beyond the Edge offers a strong message about coming together for the greater good.
