What's the Story?

In BLOODHOUNDS, a boxer named Kim Geon-woo (Woo Do-hwan) gets in the ring against an ex-Marine named Hong Woo-jin (Song-yi Lee), whose bravado is intimidating. Kim Geon-woo surprises the boxing community by beating his opponent as the underdog. But when he comes home and finds that his mother has been swindled into taking a bad loan by a loan shark group, he joins forces with Hong Woo-jin to get revenge on the loan sharks. They tumble down a rabbit hole where their good intentions pair conveniently with their abilities to fight. Will the risks outweigh the rewards? Or will their desire to do good guide them through dangerous situations?

Is It Any Good?

Our review:

Boxers, booze, loan sharks, and riveting fight scenes mix for a heady cocktail in this Korean action thriller. The chemistry between actors and tasty moral dilemmas push Bloodhounds to the next level. It's gritty and driving, but it's pretty brutal, too.

The COVID premise is used as a pivotal theme in a manner that's surprisingly intriguing. How can the small business owner survive without a loan when the customers are scarce? Here's moral tension that viewers can relate to. Sensitive viewers should avoid this one, but it'll be a hit with fans of martial arts and choreographed action.
