What's the Story?

In the competitive market of the Taiwanese film industry, in BORN FOR THE SPOTLIGHT, only a few actors have what it takes to be cast in the best series. To compete for the spotlight, they have to stay skinny and beautiful, occasionally dodging directors whose hands are known to wander. What happens if they don't have friends to laugh with them about it all at the end of the day? How do they stay sane?

Is It Any Good?

Our review:

Women grapple for the spotlight while dodging randy directors and skinny-shaming agents in this mediocre Taiwanese effort. The women in Born for the Spotlight do cackle with heckling delight after a hard day on the set, but they're still pressured to be skinny and desirable.

The characters' friendships and insecurities offer some intrigue, but the plot's pretty anemic. Teens and families can find more substantive shows about life in the limelight. This one's big on glam, but light on substance.
