Building the Band
What's the Story?
Hosted by former Backstreet Boys member AJ McLean, BUILDING THE BAND is a reality series with a unique twist in it's attempts to musical bands with members who've never see each other. 50 singers enter individual booths where they listen to each other perform. If a singer is interested in collaborating with another, they press a button. To remain in contention, a musician must receive interest from at least five fellow singers. Bands are then formed based on "blind chats" where singers communicate to find musical and personal chemistry. The newly formed bands then compete against each other until a winning band is crowned. The show also features celebrity mentors Nicole Scherzinger, Kelly Rowland, and the late Liam Payne.
Is It Any Good?
A fresh and intriguing concept that effectively blends elements of popular reality shows like Love Is Blind and The Voice. Right away, Building the Band creates exciting drama as the singers scramble to find a band before they run out of time, with the impending power struggle over who's going to emerge as the leaders of the bands looming on the horizon. The power struggles, emotional arcs, and surprising alliances keep it engaging, even if some moments feel overly manufactured. It's a fun, feel-good watch for music fans who enjoy reality-TV drama.

How does curiosity help contestants find their ideal bandmates in a "blind" setting? In the blind chats, contestants can only rely on questions to learn about potential bandmates' personalities and musical styles. How does their curiosity (or lack thereof) in these conversations help them discover compatible partners, or miss important details?
