What's the Story?

CAILLOU is a four-year-old boy (voiced by Logan Nicholson) who's trying to make sense of his world. He navigates typical preschooler feelings like being jealous of his little sister Rosie (Christina Churchill), or feeling too shy to speak up when something's bothering him. When Caillou's got a problem, he uses his imagination to role play the scenario and work through the answer. His parents, grandparents, and other adults help him untangle his big feelings too. In each episode, Caillou figures out how to solve his problem and learns something new in the process.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:
Parents say ( 1 ):
Kids say ( 3 ):

The original Caillou was nearly universally disliked by preschool parents, and this reboot is an improvement. The modern Caillou does have consequences for his actions and learns from his mistakes. He's still slightly whiny, but no more than a typical real-life preschooler. He's great at expressing his emotions, and the adults in his life validate his feelings as being real and important. However, young kids may struggle to absorb each episode's lesson. Since Caillou displays some negative behaviors in the beginning of the episode and then figures out the solution in an imaginary fantasy sequence, there's a bit of a disconnect. Some kids may not remember or understand the lesson, and instead may focus on the negative behaviors (like being mad at a sibling or trying to hide an unwanted plate of food). While Caillou's misdeeds are minor and reflective of real kids, some parents may not want to give their children more inspiration for difficult behavior.
