What's the story?

CESAR MILLAN’S DOG NATION, part of the The Dog Whisperer series of shows, stars Cesar Millan as he travels across the country to help people with their dogs. Along with his 22-year-old son Andre, Cesar journeys to cities like San Diego, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. to meet dogs, their owners and/or their handlers. While there, he gives home tips on how to control and modify dogs’ problematic behaviors, and assists with the training and placement of different breeds. Andre meets local dog heroes who play an important role in their community. The two also visit organizations, schools, and hospitals that incorporate dogs as part of their educational and healing objectives. They also answer video calls from folks they don’t get a chance to visit.

Is it any good?

This pleasant series is yet another platform allowing Cesar Millan to share his advice and techniques designed to modify dog behavior. It also showcases some of the country’s many unique programs designed to allow dogs to make many positive and unique contributions to people’s lives.

Dog owners who tune in will most likely find some useful information here, even if they don’t care for Millan’s self-taught strategies. Meanwhile, even those who don’t have a dog can find the dog profiles inspiring. Ultimately, Cesar Millan’s Dog Nation offers folks a chance to see what dogs of any breed can achieve when trained properly.

Talk to your kids about ...

  • Families can talk about animal behavioralists. What kind of training do people have to have in order to understand how to work with dogs and effectively modify their behavior? Cesar Millan is self-trained. Does this make him less qualified to do the job?

  • What makes Cesar Millan's TV shows so successful? Is it the way he works with dogs? His personality? Does Cesar Millan’s Dog Nation offer anything different from his other series?
