Chibiverse
What's the Story?
"Chibis" are microscopic characters created when scientists grabbed a bunch of Disney stories and stuffed them into a top secret machine. Each episode of CHIBIVERSE features the adventure of various Chibis.
Is It Any Good?
Light-hearted, silly stories with some well-known Disney faces. Chibiverse begins with a catchy intro song that evokes memories of Animaniacs, and the cartoon comedy is similar too. The shorts will get laughs, but the use of cartoonish weapons and violence for humor doesn't serve as the best modeling for young children.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about how short the episodes are in Chibiverse. Do you like shows that are longer or shorter? Why?
Not commenting on violence when you're watching content together can be interpreted by children as you finding it OK. Although it's not realistic to comment on every incident, and maybe not even every time you watch together, consider doing so at least occasionally. Point out and criticize negative behaviors. Research also suggests that it can help to discuss how the victim would feel.
Children are more likely to imitate violence if it's visual (rather than described), easy to mimic (hitting, punching), and presented as funny or silly. Children may imitate cartoon violence just as much as realistic content. Consider acknowledging that something was funny in the show but then discuss what the real-world effects might be for the victim and the aggressor.
