Clash of the Thundermans
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
In CLASH OF THE THUNDERMANS, Chloe Thunderman (Maya Le Clark) learns that she's gained a second superpower: she can generate a super powerful ball of energy. Her new ability is dangerous, so Super President Kickbutt (Daniele Gaither) wants Chloe to enroll in the Top Secret Hero League School for Gifted Supes to learn how to control it. Super Dean Cognita (Ariel Winter) is eager to recruit her as well, but the Thunderman family is reluctant to send Chloe away to school for the next five years. The decision causes a rift in the family: half of the Thundermans want Chloe to go, and half want her to stay. She eventually relents and goes to school, and immediately learns that Dean Cognita is not who she says she is. Can the Thundermans get past their disagreements and work together to save Chloe and all of Metroburg?
Is It Any Good?
This movie lacks originality, relying on many superhero and tween sitcom tropes. Some of the Clash of the Thundermans characters are a bit lacking, and the fight scenes seem unnecessary. Sibling disagreements are a central plot point, although they are more handled in a more mature way than in the original series. Despite its flaws, kids who are fans of the Thundermans series will probably enjoy the silly jokes. While much of the movie is just meant to be light and fluffy entertainment, the heartfelt ending gives it just a smidgen of substance.
