Cry Babies Magic Tears
What's the Story?
CRY BABIES MAGIC TEARS follows a group of babies who live in an imaginative world where tears hold magical powers. They can transform into delicious perfumes, boost fruit smoothies, and even turn into droplets of jelly. The babies are quite mischievous creatures but they're always ready to help and face adventure together, demonstrating care and kindness.
Is It Any Good?
To redefine the sad connotation of tears, this series creates whimsical elements that may reinforce stereotypical ideas of "young girls," such as tears transforming into perfume. Cry Babies Magic Tears is imaginative and creative, blending familiar interests like animals, flowers, fantasy, and fruits in character costumes and magical lands. These elements may pique curiosity in kids but primarily serve as a platform for promoting various playsets and figurines. Despite attempts at diversity, character design lacks significant variation. The stories aim to showcase positive behaviors but its rapid pacing and complexity may challenge viewers -- including adults. Still, the show can offer more value as a co-viewing activity, allowing parents to engage in conversations about its lessons and the intentions behind its marketing goals.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about the lessons in each episode of Cry Babies Magic Tears. What was the main challenge, and what did the characters learn to overcome it. Point out the positive lesson and relate it to an example from your kids' lives.
Notice how the babies have pet animals they care for. They are best friends and are always together. Can you think of some of the challenges of keeping a pet? And what are the benefits?
Parents can also encourage their kids to think critically about shows produced for toy-based properties by asking them to consider their favorite part: Was it the story or seeing the dolls come to life?
