What's the Story?

DEAD RINGERS follow Beverly and Elliot Mantle (Rachel Weisz), twin gynecologists who are infamous for their work. The austere Beverly and the erratic Elliot do their best to listen to their patients at the hospital, even though they're working in understaffed and underfunded conditions. But their end goal is simple: to open their own birthing center, where they can prioritize women on their journeys to motherhood. As they work to secure funding from a maleficent investor, strain is placed on their bond, bodies, and burnout. How will the twins reckon with the horrors of reproductive health as they try to "change the way women birth forever"?

This series takes a refreshing, feminist approach to the original story; it's thought-provoking, blunt, and clever. Dead Ringers tackles medical discrimination and misogyny in a way that's heartbreaking yet honest. Although Rachel Weisz is playing the twins, both of her characters steal every scene they're in. The amount of graphic imagery, swearing, substance abuse, and sex makes this more suitable for older viewers.
