Dino Dex
What's the Story?
In DINO DEX, 9-year-old Dex's older sister Dana (aka Dino Dana) is heading off on a paleontological dig. It's up to amateur kid scientist Dex (Juan Pablo Romero) to follow in her footsteps, and complete the experiment ideas she's written in their Dino Field Guide. Dex recruits next-door neighbor Kayla (Ana Victoria Dinapo), a geology-loving kid, to help him on his experimental missions. Together, they open up Dex and Dana's magical backpacks, and wear dinosaur costumes to entice real dinosaurs to come out of hiding. Dex and Kayla see real dinosaurs in modern-day life, and they use their observations to test their scientific hypotheses.
Is It Any Good?
This show is fantastic for dinosaur-loving kids who are too young to venture into more mature dino-focused media. The dinosaurs in Dino Dex are realistic looking and have satisfying roars, and it's fun to see them in everyday environments of the modern world. Bits of educational material is sprinkled throughout, and even prehistoric enthusiasts will probably learn something new. Grownups may roll their eyes at the lackluster acting, sometimes questionable CGI animation, and occasionally confusing plots, but kids won't notice. They'll be too busy heading outside, ready to imagine dinosaurs in their own backyards.
