What's the Story?

Hosted by comedian Tone Bell, DRINK MASTERS is a reality series featuring innovative competing in cocktail-making challenges to win cash and a title. Twelve contestants from all walks of life work in a spectacular cocktail and kitchen space and use their skills and creativity to invent mixed drinks that look good and taste even better. Judges Julie Reiner and Frankie Solarik decide which cocktails are the best, and determine which contestants should be eliminated. The last mixologist remaining behind the bar at the end of the series wins $100K and the title of Drink Master.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:

The series uses a predictable formula to create a competition that showcases what mixology is, and the skills required to do it well. It demonstrates how cocktail making is about more than creating unique beverage recipes and reinventing classic ones -- it's a visual art form. The judges also take a few minutes to break down what goes into a cocktail, or a specific skill set that is being used. Some folks will enjoy watching contestants infusing, shaking, and pouring innovative alcoholic concoctions, but Drink Masters isn't particularly original.
