What's the Story?
Jim Ellis has been a loyal driver for Ezra Saxton's Phoenix crime syndicate since he was 16; he's good at his job. Fresh from Quantico, FBI agent Nina Hayes isn't interested in playing by the local boys' rules. When she shares her own connection to Saxton and uncovers information about his brother's death, Jim decides to work with her to take down Saxton for good.
Is It Any Good?
With lots of nods to 1970s action films, a slick criminal with a great getaway car, and an upstanding but unorthodox FBI agent, Abrams' crime caper is a love letter to the genre. Duster doesn't bring much new with its premise, but it's fun to watch the expertly chosen cast chew a little scenery. Holloway does what he does best, all twinkling eyes and chip on shoulder, and Hilson is a lively newcomer.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about organized crime. How do you think a person like Jim might get wrapped up in it? Why do you think it would be hard to leave?
Nina deals with both racism and sexism at the Phoenix FBI office. How does she persevere? Why is this an important character strength?
