Emperor of Ocean Park
Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
Judge Oliver Garland (Forest Whitaker) is the EMPEROR OF OCEAN PARK. At least until he was found dead in his office by an apparent heart attack. This leaves behind his three adult children: Addison (Henry Simmons), Mariah (Tiffany Mack), and Talcott (Grantham Coleman.) As news of Oliver's death makes waves in Chicago, corruption, conspiracy, and chaos wash ashore. The judge had a lot of enemies, and as the trio tries to navigate their new reality, some of these enemies switch targets. Addison seemingly numbs the pain, Mariah suspects foul play, and Talcott is constantly being asked about "special arrangements" the judge left to him. Arrangements that he knows nothing about.
Is It Any Good?
This series packs politics with mystery. Emperor of Ocean Park is dark, complex, and intriguing. The character dynamics amongst the siblings and the judge is intricate and flawed. It's a solid crime drama that dives deeper into the relationships of its characters. The language and sexual content makes this suitable for older teens.
