What's the Story?

Set in Seattle, ETERNALLY YOURS is a half-hour family comedy from the creator of Ghosts and starring Allegra Edwards (Upload) and Ed Weeks (Drop). The series follows a vampire couple who have been together since 1526 and are now struggling with a marriage slump. As they grapple with the familiar frustrations of long-term relationships, they must also navigate their grown vampire daughter's (Helen J. Shen) new romance with a human man (Jaren Lewison). Their unusual family and centuries-old vampire community provide plenty of opportunities for supernatural complications and comedy.

This show finds fresh comic potential in the well-worn vampire genre. The central joke of Eternally Yours is that even immortal beings aren't immune to the little annoyances that accumulate over time in a marriage. It's strongest when it applies the absurdity of vampire life to recognizable relationship frustrations, such as a spouse's irritating habits or a reluctance to revisit couples therapy. The supporting characters, like the vampire who has to repeatedly enchant his aging human wife to forget that their family is full of vampires, only add to the fun. The result is a lighthearted take on vampire fiction that favors family dynamics and relationship humor over scares.

  • The vampire couple has been together for centuries but still struggles with everyday relationship problems. What does the show suggest about the work involved in maintaining a long-term relationship?
