What's the Story?

In EVERYTHING IS FINE, a woman named Claire (Virginie Efira, Benedetta) is dreaming about a horrible clown stalking her on the street. She signals to her sister, Marion (Sara Giraudeau), to slip into a bakery, slipping in step behind the clown, pushing him down and beating him to a pulp. Though this scenario ends up being a dream, it symbolizes Claire's looming fears of a medical procedure her niece will be undergoing shortly. Can Claire's family stick together to support those who need them the most? Or are they too self-absorbed to see beyond themselves?

Is It Any Good?

Though the acting in this bland French series isn't anything to complain about, the writing falls short of gripping. A child's ailment lends necessary gravity to the drama, but there's nothing intriguing or fascinating about Everything Is Fine. People are having affairs, a mother is a closet smoker; insert shrug here.

If teens and parents are looking for a soapy series to binge, this won't keep anyone up past their bedtime. Rather, the pregnant pauses and obvious observations might serve to send viewers to dreamland.
