What's the Story?

Pérfil falso, aka FAKE PROFILE, is a Colombian dramatic series about a woman who meets the man of her dreams on an online dating app, and how the dream turns into a nightmare. Carolina Miranda plays Camila Román, a Las Vegas cabaret dancer who puts her profile on Tinder and connects with a handsome doctor from Colombia named Fernando Catell (Rodolfo Salas). After a steamy first date she realizes that he's the love of her life, and for four months they call, text, and see each other every time Catell is in town. When he's unable to see her for a few weeks due to a family emergency, Camila decides to visit him in Cartagena. But when taxi driver David Meneses (Lincoln Palomeque) drops her off at Catell's office, she quickly learns that the man she loves isn't who he says he is. With Meneses help she remains in Cartagena to learn everything she can about him, and soon finds herself caught up in a dangerous situation.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:
Parents say ( 1 ):
Kids say ( 1 ):

The Colombian series combines improbable dramatic narratives with erotic sexual encounters to create a semi-campy soap opera. As Camila stalks the man she knows as Fernando, and "Fernando" contends with the fallout of his actions, the plot becomes more sinister, and features powerful individuals like businessman Pedro Ferrer (Victor Mallarino) and his right-hand person Tina (Juliana Galvis). Ferrer's family, including his adult children Ángela (Manuela González) and budding restaurateur Adrián (Mauricio Hénao), are also having their own relationship issues.

Granted, the writing isn't particularly good, and some plot lines don't come together very well, making the overall series feel like an odd mixture of elements from movies like Fatal Attraction and 50 Shade of Grey. Some folks may feel that Fake Profile stops short of being soft porn because it contributes to the story; others will argue that it features scenes that cross that line. Regardless, Fake Profile is intended to be an "adults only" guilty pleasure.
