What's the Story?

On February 19, 2026, 53-year-old actor and health advocate Eric Dane died from complications of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The following day, Netflix released FAMOUS LAST WORDS: ERIC DANE, which features the late actor candidly talking with TV writer and producer Brad Falchuk during an interview taped in November 2025. From intimately discussing his close family relationships and some of the highs and lows of his life, to sharing what drove him to keep acting and his thoughts about what awaits him once his physical body failed, the conversation offers the public a final opportunity to hear directly from Dane. It also offers the chance to listen to him speak to his daughters publicly for the last time.

The second installment of the Famous Last Words series features an emotional interview that paints an honest and heartfelt autobiographical portrait of Eric Dane's life journey and the way he approached its end. Like other installments of the franchise, the interview was secretly recorded to be aired posthumously, and in this case is intended to offer his daughters, Billie and Georgia, more insight into who their father was. While Dane discusses some of the brightest and darkest moments he faced over the years, lingering regrets, and life hacks he wants to pass on, the overall conversation highlights the humor and mental strength with which he faced the progression of a disease that caused him to go from a healthy and athletic man in his prime to someone unable to walk or move most of his body. His words also reveal some of the powerful lessons living with ALS taught him. It's a poignant, sad narrative, even if you know little about Eric Dane's life and career. But it's also a celebration of life, and offers important advice about how to choose to live it. Famous Last Words: Eric Dane is a beautiful gift to his daughters, and we are lucky to be able to see it.
