What's the Story?

FRIEREN: BEYOND JOURNEY'S END follows the story of Frieren (voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki), an elf mage who was one of the four heroes who defeated the demon king. The comrades then bid farewell to each other, and Frieren decides to journey on her own in search of new magic spells. Much time passes but Frieren's long elfish lifespan she doesn't notice. The next time she sees her former human comrades they're dying of old age. Realizing that her long lifespan has made her apathetic, Frieren is filled with regrets over not getting to know her comrades better and forging stronger relationships with friends or loved ones. She begins to confront these regrets by taking on a mage apprentice and setting off on adventures during which Frieren revisits her history.

Our review:

Kids say ( 9 ):

This beautiful fantasy adventure anime is a welcome breath of fresh air in the adventure genre. Frieren: Beyond Journey's End tells an emotional tale about confronting regrets, overcoming apathy, and putting in the effort to create real relationships with people. There's still some action and lots of adventure, but these take a backseat to the series' emotional journey. The art and animation are both gorgeous, particularly the backgrounds which look lovingly crafted. The main character Frieren isn't very personable, but something about their efforts to create meaningful relationships and attempt to make up for lost time is relatable and enchanting.
