What's the Story?

GOING FUR GOLD is a docuseries that follows animal-showing enthusiasts. Several pet owners are followed over the course of a showing season; they enter their fancy breeds of cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, and even alpacas in competitions across the United States. Competitors groom their animals into perfect fluffballs in hopes of winning "Best in Show." Judges examine the animals closely, making some dreams come true while crushing others.

Is It Any Good?

Going Fur Gold will appeal to animal lovers, but it may not be compelling enough to draw kids in for all six installments. It's super fun to see all the unusual animal breeds, but kids may not find the competitors' behind-the-scenes drama all that interesting. Most of the featured human competitors are adults, and their concerns seem like boring grown-up stuff at times. Instead, kids may prefer watching the end product, something like the National Dog Show Thanksgiving spectacular.
