Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
HIGH HOPES follows the staff and owners at a popular Hollywood marijuana dispensary as they prepare for a massive expansion of the business. The employees range from prototypical "stoner" Freddy to troublemaker Dani to charming slacker Uriel, all of whom struggle with MMD's transformation from an underground spot to a legit corporation.
Is It Any Good?
There's no mistaking who's the target audience for this; 90 percent of is simply watching people smoke, vape, and otherwise consume marijuana. The High Hopes cast is reasonably charismatic, and there are some legitimately hilarious moments -- especially when the action breaks to interviews with people hanging out on Hollywood Boulevard. But, like most reality TV, the series also leans on manufactured drama that never pays off. It's the rare instance of a show being exactly what it says it is.
